I hope you understand that I would rather not give access to my computer and cTrader workspace. Besides, the problem only happens once every day or so, and only once in that day, not multiple times, and only for perhaps 1 minute after openinhg a trade. Then the sheild button works again. It would be very hard to score an instance of the problem during the session.

Just happened again, first instance after 5 hours trading. Filmed it again.
- restarted cTrader because using 1.3G RAM and was running slow
- first trade after restart, could not activate Advanced Protection via sheild button on chart trader, or from within the standard trade managemnet dialogue. Kept clicking for a few minutes
- tried something else... was able to activate via the sheild button in the Positions tab, but I do not know if that was due to time passing, or maybe that button always works when others sometimes do not?
- I have the new update that you guys sent ourt in the last 24 hours.
This is a genuine bug, I am not just being dumb and missing something obvious.

While we are on the topic...
I think others have mentioned that the "add pips" concept of a trailing stop is hard to work with. Preference seems to be the more natural language approach of setting a rule. Example: "trail stop loss by X pips when gaining Y pips"
Also, an additional feature TSL request in concert with what Alex sugests:
Multiple trailing stop loss rules allowing scaling out via trailing stop. This works really well blended with multiple Take Profit scale-out levels, especially in the instance when a TP was almost hit, but not quite... many of us want to tightly protect that unit which was 1 micro tick from being closed at a TP limit order target.
- Position = 100,000
- Take Profit 1: "10 pips gain, close 80,000"
- Stop to Break Even: "add 1 pip, trigger when gaining 5 pips"
- TSL Rule 1: "for 100,000, trail stop by 5 pips when gaining 9 pips"
- TSL Rule 2: "for 80,000, trail stop loss by 2 pips when gaining 14.5 pips"
- TSL Rule 3: "for 20,000, trail stop loss by 5 pips when gaining 14.5 pips"
TSL 1 would be automatically cancelled when TSL Rule 2 gain target is hit.
I admit this can get complicated and my example has room for problems to arise. But there are other methods to protect a TP target that was missed by a tick. Example, using a two-part Take Profit rule:
- Take Profit 1: "at 10 pips gain, close 100,000" OR " at 9.9 pips gain, close 100,000 at 8 pips SL"
=> This way, if you hit 9.9 pips gain, missing your 10 pip TP target, you will exit with a SL order if the maket then falls back to an 8 pip gain.
And all this should be definable as a saved trade management set before the trade is opened, rather than very quickly set after the trade opens.
ps, having a built in control for specifically Break Even is a great feature. Please keep that as is if you develop any other new trailing stop rules. :)

Hi dmn,
It is not clear to me what is the problem. I could not reproduce any issue with the advanced protection button. Can you send us some screenshots on a short video demonstrating what you are experiencing?
Best Regards,
Panagiotis
Hey there P, I have some video of this filmed with my phone. You can hear the click and just see the button depress as I click. It is 135MB, trying to work out how to share it with you and not reduce my privacy. I'm on your side, just trying to help.
- it is hard to replicate repeatedly. After I get one event of the button not working, I am not able to immeditely find the error again. It seems to fix itself
- I think it happens most when I first start cTrader for the day
- the shield button will start to work peroperly when clicked after a few minutes into the trade, but not immediatley.

Hi Panagiotis, I understand it isn't easy. And appreciate your diligence in at least acknowledging most forum feedback items. [Don't forget to address Vitali's point in this thread ;)]
I view my trading platform as a business partner, so I can be a bit needy. Beyond the API and Bot functions, if you guys really polish the chart-based discretionary trading aspect of your product, you will have a winner. I'll give it time.
ps, maybe make your UserVoice section a bit easier to find froim the forum. I don't see any links.

The usability complaints list is long. I've pretty much stopped asking and suggesting. It just never ends. I wish cTrader well and hope that they really jump on this gaping opportunity to provide a modern broker-independent trading platform. And I mean trading: hand on the mouse, eyes on the screen, buying and selling. I'll keep using cTrader, but am just waiting to pay NT8 the $1000 license fee as soon as a broker I like offers that connection. Or Interactive Brokers completely relpaces TWS (what a disaster that is!)
And yes, why doesnt the forum remember my login? And why does it send me an email when I start a post telling me that I just posted in a thread that I am following.
And why doesn't my browser spell check work on the forum?
ps, I really like that cTrader adds a downloaded indicator automatically just by opening the file after download. Good job on that one. And native renko, tick and range is so far an instant MT killer. Though could do with more renko settings/types.

cTrader layout does not make efficient use of screen space at all. All those issues mentioned ^ plus too many duplicate vertical chart menus in v3.3.
And the chart borders are too bulky. And the dead space between the boarders steals even more pixels.
The most screen-space effieicnt chart presentation is with chart pop-out mode, then maximized. Even then there is a redunant vertical menu on teh left of chart, and a big white useless border at the top of the chart

Thank you for your offer of advanced help, I appreciate it. But based on time my zone on Friday evening, it will have to be next week.
Like my Advanced Protection issue, this one is also intermittent. Will at least get a screen shot next time it happens.
The template I was failing to save earlier today is now saving. But I was getting the same error yesterday every now and then as well.

I'll have to work out how to record a video. But literally right now I opened a dummy trade on a demo account, fresh chart and the Advanced Protection "sheild" icon button was non-responsive. I tried again a few minutes later, and it was responsive. I've seen that intermitent nature numerous times.

Great idea! See Ninja Trader for an example of how they do it.
In the meantime, why does the advanced protection button not activate a settings window everytime I click on it. As thought it is sometimes disabled, or just nort working. It isn't greyed-out. It highlights when I curser-over. It depresses when I click. But nothing happens.

Now getting "Can not save template" error message.
I have two almost identicle templates side by side on the same work space. Only difference is the time frame and the viewing options. One saves ok, the other does not.
And no, I will not share my workspace or template with you. That is proprietary.
This is not good enough. We don't pay you, but our brokers do, and they will lose our business if your platform doesn't work efficiently. I spend 6 hours a day making money, or trying to, and cTrader is making that harder, not easier. Think about that. This is not a game. I just changed brokers and had no choice but to use cTrader. It is great in some regards, but very undeveloped in other areas.

Hi Panagiotis, I understand, and will try to think of a way to collaborate and help fix this issue. I'd like to show I am not crazy. Or learn that maybe I am, because it really is happening.
Happened again today on first tade after starting cTrader. And again the sheild button that did work was the one in the Positions tab. Second trade worked just fine.
ps, please consider changing your forum settings - we are forced to login every day we visit. But worse: when logging in to reply to a thread, please redirect the user back to that thread url. Currently, we are redirected after login all teh way back to your cpanel home page, and we then have to find the form section and thread we were about to reply to.
