thoughts on NouveauTrendEngine DEMO bot?

hey folks, stumbled across this NouveauTrendEngine DEMO bot on the cTrader marketplace. it's a grid recovery strategy and it's free, which is cool for testing, i guess. they're showing a monthly ROI of 17.3% with a profit factor of 2.72. but then i saw the max drawdown is 17.8%, and i'm a bit wary.

has anyone here given this one a try? does the drawdown match real-life performance or is it just backtest magic? would love to hear any experiences or thoughts before diving in myself.

RE: thoughts on NouveauTrendEngine DEMO bot?

i played around with the NouveauTrendEngine DEMO bot a bit last month. it's definitely interesting since it’s free, so low risk if you're just testing the waters. the drawdown numbers can be a bit sketchy from my experience—what you see in backtests doesn’t always align with the live performance. i noticed the drawdown can spike in real market conditions, especially when there's sudden volatility. honestly, most grid strategies can be like that. it's worth testing it on a demo account first to see how it holds up over time, especially if you're worried about those drawdown risks. but hey, free is free, so might as well see if it fits your trading style.

RE: thoughts on NouveauTrendEngine DEMO bot?

haven't tried this exact bot, but i’ve tested a similar grid recovery strategy before. the thing with grid bots is they can look super appealing on paper with that nice ROI. but in my experience, the drawdown is the part that can really bite you if you're not careful. 17.8% isn't crazy, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind. just be wary of market conditions changing drastically since these bots might not adapt well.

also, be cautious about getting sucked in solely by backtest results—real market conditions can be a different beast entirely. if you do decide to test it, maybe run it on a demo account for a while to see how it behaves in real time. curious to hear what others who've tried it say too.

RE: thoughts on NouveauTrendEngine DEMO bot?

appreciate the insights! yeah, i've noticed grid bots can be a tricky beast, especially if market volatility spikes. totally agree on not trusting backtest results too much. thinking of running it on demo to see firsthand how it reacts to the ups and downs. real-time data’s just more telling, you know? still curious though if anyone's seen the drawdown spike beyond 17.8% in actual trading. anyone else out there given it a spin? would love to hear some more real-world experiences.
