anyone tried the FVG detection indicator?
01 Jul 2026, 14:57

just stumbled upon this FVG detection indicator on the cTrader marketplace. it's priced at $30, and seems to focus on identifying fair value gaps and key levels like support & resistance, breaker blocks, etc. i'm intrigued but also kind of cautious. no metrics listed, which makes me wonder about its practicality in live trading. anyone here used this before or have some insights on how it performs on real charts?

RE: anyone tried the FVG detection indicator?

hey there! so, I haven't bought it myself, but I did some digging around about similar indicators in general. fair value gaps can be useful for certain trading strategies, especially if you're into the smart money concepts. but, yeah, no metrics or reviews is kind of a red flag for me too. it's like buying a car without knowing the mileage. the $30 price tag isn't too steep, but I'd maybe try a free version or look for some community feedback before pulling the trigger. if you do go for it, be keen on testing it on a demo account first to see how it really plays out with your strategy.

RE: anyone tried the FVG detection indicator?

hey! i’ve not used this specific FVG detection indicator, but i’ve tinkered with similar ones on cTrader. honestly, these type of indicators can be a hit or miss. they do help highlight some interesting areas on the chart, but i wouldn't rely on them alone for serious decision-making. without metrics or backtesting data, it's hard to gauge if they're worth $30. but if you're just curious and have some cash to spare, it might be worth experimenting with, especially if you're into studying price action. just keep your risk management in check.

RE: anyone tried the FVG detection indicator?

thanks for the input! yeah, i've been trying to get a better grasp on price action, so i thought this might give me some new angles to look at. definitely agree on not relying solely on one indicator, especially without solid data backing it up. i think i'll keep poking around for feedback or maybe see if there's a trial version before dropping the $30. have you ever discovered an indicator that actually surprised you with its accuracy? always on the lookout for something that's genuinely useful in live trading.
