Instalment of a Developers satisfaction manager for Automate.
22 Feb 2022, 11:58

To me and also other developers It looks like supporting the Automate API seems not to be of much importance to cTrader.
There are lots of improvements to be made (some are extemely easy to do as just by declaring a property or method public).
But i think somewhere in cTrader Softwaremanagement there is someone who just does not love the people working with automate and probably thinks they are a neccessary nuisance.

The cTrader Forum reflex is always ' Make a suggestion' whilst chancing the word private to public would take less time.

And if you want to follow the advice and look at the suggestionlist, you'll see it has no effective search function making it look like it is made to disperse ideas by not making it easy to find suggestions and vote them up.
This results in lots of suggestions that, combined, would have had a big upvote count but, because they are dispersed all over the place, have no importance anymore.

Also the fact that some suggestions with nice upvotecount are open for many many years, support my believes that developers are not that important (anymore).
It is absurd that programmers can't use the routines available (like calculating commission, tradesize, accountconversion, ...) to make their work easier and better maintanable inherrently improving the total platform experience.

It its astonishing to see that the .Net platform ideas bounces from 4.x to Net 2 to . . .  and in the end still leaves the developers with an almost ancient platform to work with thus depriving them of contemporary  libraries.

My wish is for a

dedicated developers 'automate' satisfaction manager
with the responisbility to drastically improve the developers experience

in the cTrader team as an enabler for better developer support and developer oriented platform development resulting in a better platform.
So i'd say cTrader: Developers First or at least second;-) !

AND make it possible to alter the header of forum posts!

Dear Shares4UsDevelopment,

Thank you for your honest and constructive feedback. I understand how you feel so I have to provide you with some insight. As you may already read in other discussions, our team is working on migrating the entire cTrader Desktop application to the latest .Net version. This is a humongous task and we have been working on this for the last two years. It is also a task that prevents us from releasing new features until it is completed. We are near completion and we hope that soon there will be announcements. Below there is a list of major improvements just to prove that we are not ignoring developers at all

  1. Upgrade to the latest .Net Runtime
  2. Out of process algo execution
  3. Any IDE support (no more VS dependencies)
  4. New Built in Code Editor
  5. New installer
  6. Backtesting and optimization improvements
  7. OnDestroy method for indicators
  8. Improved logs

and many more. After the above are delivered, we will be able to start implementing the features pending in the backlog, like renko and range backtesting and many more.

We are also developing a brand new ctrader.com hence we are giving less attention to the existing one :)

As far as developer support is concerned, I am 100% sure that we have the best community team out there!

Best Regards,

Panagiotis

Can't Wait. Please hurry before the company favours another platform for future development.

There's definitely room for improvement. I don't think you've ever used the platform "ProRealTime" and/or visited their "ProRealCode" forums or code libraries?:-)

They have dedicated employees not only writing code/custom indicators, but also responding to queries in the forums on a daily basis, in multiple languages, for both their "ProRealTime" product and their custom "ProRealCode" coding.

@Spotware is nowhere near as interactive in its cTrader forums.
