Can I trim an open position with a limit order rather than opening up a new position?

Can I trim an open position with a limit order rather than opening up a new position?

i.e. if I am long with 5 lots, can I place an open limit order above price to sell 2 lots which trims my long position down to 3 lots when filled, rather remaining long 5 lots and having a new short position of 2 lots open.

Hi,

Nope, that is not possible with a hedging account. Only with a netting account you can achieve this
