Partial position closing
11 Feb 2022, 16:26

Dear All

I have a problem to solve or understand.
The system gives me a loss and moves the other part to a better position (a result of the difference between the previous position and the loss) when I close a part of an active position.
If I have, for example, 3 lots of XAGUSD for a value of about 75 € and I close one lot, then the system returns a passive of -258,22 € and moves the position higher to a value of 328,75 €.
Is it normal?
Is there a way to collect 25 € and don't move the rest?

I'm sorry, but when I don't understand, I get confused.

Thank you

Regards

Hi zste74,

It is not clear from your description what is really going on. Maybe combining your description with some text would help us understand what you are talking about.

Hi PanagiotisCharalampous

Thank you for your reply.
I'll try to explain better.
I had three lots with a value of 75 € invested, and I closed one of them.
I thought to obtain 25 € on my account and two lot still invested of a value of 50 €.
Instead, I obtained a loss of 250 €, two lot still invested of the value of 325 €, and the entry price moved.
Is it normal for cTrader to work in this way?

Hi zste74,

Yes it is. cTrader manages deals in a FIFO way. A position's entry price and profit is just the average of the entry prices and P&L of each deal consisting the position. The first deal opened is the first one to close. As soon as it closes, entry prices and P&L and recalculated based on the remaining deals.
