Difference between MACD and histogram
Difference between MACD and histogram
30 May 2019, 12:53
Hi,
There's avaible 2 MACD based indicators at ctrader, the first one is named as "MACD Crossover" and the second "MACD Histogram".
The indicator MACD Crossover shows the MACD line (calculated by the difference between a long and a short period), the signal line and an histogram as a graphic representation of the difference between both lines.
In another hand, the indicator MACD Histogram shows different histogram by that shown by MACD Crossover, even using the same parameters (26, 12, 9).
The signal line, the only one shown at MACD Histogram, seems to be the only one represented at the histogram ploted.
Can someone clarify this to me?

Hi, thanks for answering.
But, by concept, shouldn't be Histogram = MACD line - Signal line?

Hi ramonsgarcia,
Thanks for posting in our forum. The MACD Histogram is plotting the MACD line find in MACD Crossover as a histogram and not the Histofram line of the MACD Crossover.
