cTrader Algo Security & Licensing for Selling cBots
17 Feb 2025, 14:06

Dear cTrader Support Team,

I am interested in selling my premium cBot on the cTrader Store and would like to inquire about the available security measures and licensing options to protect my intellectual property.

Specifically, I would like to understand the following:

Reverse Engineering Protection:

  • How secure is the .algo file format against decompilation and reverse engineering?
  • Are there any additional measures I should take to prevent unauthorized access to my cBot’s logic?

Licensing and Access Control:

  • Does the cTrader Store provide built-in licensing mechanisms to restrict access based on purchases?
  • Can I implement my own licensing system within the cBot, and if so, do you have best practices for this?

Encryption & Code Protection:

  • Does cTrader provide any native encryption or obfuscation methods to protect my code?
  • Are there recommended third-party tools that are compatible with cTrader for added security?

Trial & Subscription Model:

  • Can I offer a trial version of my cBot through the cTrader Store?
  • Does cTrader support a subscription-based licensing model instead of a one-time purchase?

As I plan to launch my cBot soon, I would appreciate any guidance or official documentation regarding these security and licensing options.

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
