Candle data: Ask, Bid or both?

Spotware said:

Yes, you are right. We will include editing of the posts. For the time being, you may use the spell-checker and preview your post prior to submitting it.

LOL. Thanks. Installed English in my browser, hope it works.

Q: is the candle made of the Bid price, the Ask price or a combi?

And how does your indicator calculate the Doji-factor?

New tiny indicator

In that case I just made a new very tiny indicator. I don't know yet how significant this can be in candle analyses (or price action analyses), but it tells us where the weight of all the ticks within one candle is. Maybe it's completely usesless, but this is information that is not shown in a single Japanese candle.

So where in the candle dit most of the ticks take place and how balanced are Ask and Bid ticks? See the image below. The dots are based on the simple average of all the ticks, but could also be based on the weighed or exponential average.

In a way it shows the resume of the smaller time frames within the candle. If dots are far apart, there was more turmoil. If dots are on the Open-side of the candle, then prize chanched recently towards Close. You could use these dots as a dimmer for the OnTick method, so one extreme tick will not be enough to open or close a trade for example.

Exit strategy

@getbuen Do you have a proper exit strategy when you trade manualy. Then you should robotize that strategy. Bad exits always cost more trades than bad entries.

Show the blanked out area

Indeed it would be nice to see the numbers the blanked-out area of the Events. There we can see the development of Balance and the pipsizes of the trades.

That's how you could really impress us, gb1980be.

And a tick is...

And every tick is a change of Bid or Ask price?

Results, what a surprise...

Not surprising that life can't be this simple. The results with:

  • Zero Spread!
  • Zero Commission!
  • 5 pips  SL and TP

With higher SL and TP it got even worse. As sometimes there are over 5 trades losing, so martingale is out of the question. A better Exit strategy might make the results better. But the most important problems as always with these MacDonalds strategies are:

  • the big spikes have already occured when the robot steps in
  • there are many trade moments within the algo, where the human eye would know better

EURUSD

GBPJPY

Sometimes an answer is best said in music...

But just for the experiment, i'll build you that robot.  YOU will have to think about the exit strategie.

History

Thanks for the reply. Another posibility is using the history. But i don't see how to aproach the history positions.

But don't put your money on it.

The Golden Dragon is in backtesting a nice scalper, because it has a real and unique method. it doesn't just order and hedge "hoping for the best and Martingale the rest"... But like all other robots: keep tweeking and guarding as money does not fall out of the sky.

Thanks. And the percentage is just an arbitrary number. Or should this be calculated from average candle and body lengths?

DLL?

And can that be done within cAlgo. I'm an OSX developer so i am already on thin ice here with cAlgo in a virtual Windows on my MacPro.

ECN or not

I was told that "Last Look" is simply impossible if trading happens directly on an ECN-service. It's not the software that makes this possible, it's the broker. So choosing an ECN-service eliminates this posibility.
